MAHAKALA PRAYER FOR TIBETAN NEW YEAR

 Appearing in frighteningly splendid, majestic form, Mahakala holds a sharp Kartika in his hand, which symbolizes cutting through the five poisons. He consumes all negativity, adverse conditions, and obstacle-makers of the Dharma. Traditionally, a special Mahakala Puja is performed at the end of the Tibetan calendar year to safeguard one from obstacles in the coming year.

6:00 pm:  Dinner ( Traditional Lucky Noodle )
After dinner writing your names and making wishes for beings.

FEBRUARY 24th SCHEDULE

Dear Friends of Thrangu Monastery and Dharma Family,

Come and joins us to celebrate Losar on February 24th (Tibetan New Year, Buddhist Calendar Year 2147)! This is the most important holiday for Tibetans. Traditionally, Tibetans celebrate Losar by visiting monasteries and receiving the blessings of the Three Jewels and the Lamas early Losar morning. This establishes a positive connection for an auspicious new year.

· 9:00 AM - 16 Arhats' prayer along with auspicious yellow rice and tea

· 10:30 AM - Smoke prayer (sang) making an offering to Protectors and raising prayer flags

· 12:00 PM - Lunch
