Dear Dharma Friends,
Tashi Delek!!
Thrangu Monastery sanghas will be commemorating the Buddha Birth, Enlightenment, and Parinirvana on June 15 (Wednesday), 2011 at 7:30pm. We will celebrate with a special tsok (feast) using the text of "Blazing Wisdom"- The Guru Yoga and Feast Offering to The Great Jetsun Milarepa composed by Jamgon Kongtrul Lodro Thaye. This practice of the Guru, central figure of all mandalas, is praised again and again by the victors in all tantras.
Saga Dawa festival is celebrated during the whole of the 4th Tibetan month and is one of the most important religious months of the year. This auspicious month coincides with three important events in Buddha's life namely his birth, nirvana and parinirvana (death). Since the Saga Dawa festival falls on the holiest month of the Tibetan calendar, it is believed that good deeds and prayers are multiplied a thousand fold during this event. Many people are immersed in prayers at this time. During the fourth month of the Tibetan calendar, many people refrain from killing animals and performing nonvirtuous activities. This may not be overt, but there is a festive spirit in the air during the Saga Dawa festival.
The Saga Dawa festival is truly a celebration that encompasses everyone into its fold, casting aside all barriers of negative actions. In fact, being a part of this holy event is such a moving experience that a deep sense of inner satisfaction stays for a long time. So please be a part of the Saga Dawa festival by accumulating positive deeds so that every being in the world can experience peace and harmony.
Please feel free to bring your feast offerings on this wonderful event! (Cookies, Fruit, Juice and etc).
