Children and Youth Buddhist Learning Group

This Learning Group is for school-age students to give them an understanding of Buddhism. Students learn how to end their suffering by cutting out greed, hatred, and ignorance. The objective of learning is an understanding of the Three Jewels: Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha.

The Primary level introduces students to the basic teachings, culture, and symbols of Buddhism and the Secondary level focuses on Meditation skills and practice.

Manjushri Academy – Thrangu Monastery Canada New School Year Enrollment 2025

Enroll Now for September 2025! Manjushri Academy Sunday School Welcoming New Students

Manjushri Academy is now accepting new student applications for the upcoming school year starting this September. Our Sunday School Program, held weekly from 9:45 AM to 1:00 PM, offers a nurturing environment where students explore the Dharma, practice meditation, and enjoy community connection over lunch.

We welcome children and youth from Preschool to Secondary levels to join our engaging and spiritually enriching program.

Background of Manjushri Class and Lineage

Manjushri Academy operates under the spiritual guidance of Thrangu Monastery Canada, which is part of the Kagyu Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism—a tradition known for its deep meditative practices and teachings on compassion and wisdom.
The Manjushri Class was established to provide young students with an opportunity to learn the core principles of Buddhism in a structured and age-appropriate way, while staying rooted in the authentic lineage of Venerable Thrangu Rinpoche, one of the most respected masters in the Kagyu tradition.

Following the Teachings of Thrangu Rinpoche

Our curriculum closely follows the teachings of Venerable Thrangu Rinpoche, emphasizing kindness, mindfulness, and wisdom. Each Sunday is divided into three meaningful sessions:

Dharma Teachings – age-appropriate lessons based on Buddhist principles.
Meditation Practice – guided sessions to cultivate calmness and clarity
Community Lunch – 《Five Contemplations While Eating》A Mindful Mealtime Practice

During lunch, students share a meal with the Lamas, Principal, teachers, and classmates while practicing mindfulness through the 《Five Contemplations While Eating》. They learn to appreciate the efforts behind the food, reflect on their behavior, eat with moderation, view food as nourishment rather than indulgence, and develop gratitude and focus to support their learning and spiritual growth.

Through these sessions, students develop not only spiritual understanding but also personal growth and inner peace.
