Thank You for Participating Avalokiteshvara Meditation Retreat!

Thank you for participating a wonderful 3 days of retreat focused on Avalokiteshvara. During this retreat, participants joined together to accumulate 1,000,000 Avalokiteshvara mantras. This powerful meditation and chanting practice led by our resident masters, Lama Pema and Khenpo Tashi, along with 7 other monks.

What are the benefits of practicing the Avalokiteshvara sadhana? Avalokiteshvara (Tib: Chenrezig) is renowned as the Bodhisattva of Compassion. He is the embodiment of the compassion of all the Buddhas. Meditating on Avalokiteshvara transforms deluded energy into the enlightened energy of discriminating awareness wisdom and the clear-seeing warmth of true loving compassion. Ego’s selfish demands yield to our deepening commitment to the well-being and enlightenment of others.

Why should we practice this now? We practice Avalokiteshvara because, at present, sentient beings have been experiencing lots of unfavourable situations such as. natural tragedies and civil war. As a result, many beings are adversely affected. We practice this in order to expand and establish genuine compassion.

To generate the bodhichitta is so precious,
May those without it now create it.
May those who have it not destroy it, and
May it ever grow and flourish.

All beings, without exception seek happiness; no one wants to suffer. The practice of Avalokiteshvara reminds us to recall the practice of compassion, and to extend it. It's much easier to be kind to those we love, and nice to those we like, but we need to generate compassion beyond those limited thoughts.

Every person whose heart is moved by love and compassion, who deeply and sincerely act for the benefit of others without concern for fame, profit, social position, or recognition, expresses the activity of Chenrezig.
